– Worth a Visit?
We’re kicking off our brand-new food review series with a bang—and a burger—right here in Honley, a cracking little village just outside Huddersfield (not far from Holmfirth if you’re local). This week, we stopped by Braise, and spoiler alert… we weren’t disappointed.
The Location
First impressions? Bang on. Braise is dead easy to find—just off the main road with bold signage that’s hard to miss. Bonus points for the free parking right across the street. For a village location, that’s a proper win.
The Vibe
Inside, the place feels relaxed and modern—nothing too try-hard. Light, airy, clean, and just the kind of spot you’d happily pop into for lunch or tea. The team behind the bar gave a warm welcome as soon as we walked in. Friendly without being over the top. Nailed it.
The Menu
Now this is where Braise really shines. You’re looking at around £15 for a quality burger and side, which, in this day and age, is pretty solid. The menu’s not massive (good thing), but it hits the spot—beef, chicken, veggie, and a few proper tasty sides like halloumi fries and crispy waffle fries.
There’s just enough variety to keep everyone happy, whether you’re into spice, BBQ, or something a bit sweet. And for the foodies out there, keep an eye on the weekly specials—they’ve clearly got someone in the kitchen who knows their stuff.
Service with a Smile
Let’s talk service. It’s make or break, isn’t it? You can forgive an off-day in the kitchen, but rubbish service? That sticks. Luckily, Braise gets it right—laid-back but attentive. They check in just enough without hovering. You can tell they care, and that makes a big difference.
The Star of the Show: The Food
Right—on to the main event. I went for the pulled pork special: a double smash burger with jalapeños, sriracha, creamy slaw, and a soft brioche bun. It was a flavour bomb—every bite had crunch, heat, and richness. Oh, and those waffle fries dipped in sriracha mayo? Unreal.
It’s that perfect balance of comfort food with a bit of flair. Nothing fancy, just proper tasty.
Value for Money?
Absolutely. Great food, great service, good atmosphere—it’s the kind of place you’d go back to. Whether you’re local or just passing through Honley, Braise is well worth a stop.
Final Score: 8/10
No nonsense, no gimmicks—just good food done right. We’ll be back.
